JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla on Sunday alleged the BJP was using diversionary tactics as it failed to keep its promises and provide justice to any section of the society in Jammu and Kashmir. Former Minister was addressing meeting of Congress Minority Department Cell organized by Baldev Singh Wazir, Chairman District Jammu Urban. Prominent among those present and addressed on the occasion include Vice Chairman Minority Department Gurdarshan Singh, Satish Sharma, Corporator Pritam Singh, Rajinder Singh Randhawa, Block President Janak Raj, Ex Sarpanch Shamsher Singh, Inderjeet Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Puran Chand, Sumanpreet Singh, Omkar Singh Jamwal, Simranjeet Singh, Satnam Singh Kaka, Harcharan Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Jasbir Singh beside others.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said his party will scuttle every attempt of the BJP and will safeguard the rights of the people to start a new phase of development, once it returns to power. Former Minister maintained that J&K needs a new direction as BJP has proved to be utter flops in governing J&K failed to take the country on the path of development and progress. He described BJP as ‘storyteller’ which failed to give direction to the country and guide it on the right path. Party has completely failed and that’s why they tell stories. He said whipping up passions for short-term political goals will not do any good to the nation.The policies of BJP have flopped. I can tell you with guarantee that they can do no good to this country,” he added.
Bhalla said that treachery and deceit of BJP is haunting Jammu people, who reposed their unflinching faith and support to it with a hope that Jammu may get a better deal. “Despite being in power at the Centre and in J&K, the party failed miserably on governance front and let down Jammu on all fronts,” he said, adding that BJP has nothing to showcase as its achievement.Bhalla slammed BJP for putting Jammu’s interests and development subservient to pleasure of personal agenda. He said that people of the J&K in general and Jammu region in particular were suffering on account of development due to poor governance of Government. “An inhuman atmosphere was being generated and mistrust created by bringing people and regions on ‘eyeball to eyeball’ situation over various sensitive issues”, he said and referred to the controversies raked up by the Government.
“We decry the politics of hate and divide”, he said while cautioning people against divisive politics being played by vested interests which has already alienated Kashmir from the mainstream. He made a passionate appeal to the people to maintain vigil against elements inimical to the inclusiveness of the State. Bhalla said that deceptive politics and disruptive posturing of the BJP has cost J&K dearly, not only in terms of widening of gap between people but also performance of administration taking nose dive due to lack of political direction.Bhalla regretted that contrary to people’s expectations, BJP leaders surrendered on vital public issues. Reacting over the reports of the BJP leadership telling its JK cadre to gear up for the polls, Bhalla said that BJP has nothing positive to showcase to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in spite of ruling the country and the J&K for more than eight years.
